Things to Do About Toledo
Toledo is a city with a rich history and a community of enthusiastic individuals. Find out about the Region’s participation in the War of 1812 in Fort Meigs, or root to the Detroit Tigers’ farm staff using their faithful fans. Do not overlook these other Regional favourites:
The Town Center at Levis Commons – Situated about 10 minutes from the resort, this open-minded mall homes everything from Books-A-Million to neighbourhood stores. Peruse the shelves of many independent shops, and catch a snack at one of those restaurants on site. To get a sweet trip, stop by Schakolad Chocolate Factory to try out some decadent European chocolate.
Toledo Botanical Garden – The Toledo Botanical Garden is composed of six professionally manicured gardens around over 50 acres. Drive around 15 minutes in the resort to enjoy a family picnic one of many roses and perennials. Make sure you take a look at the Pioneer Garden, which includes a cottage after belonging to Peter Navarre, an American scout who gathered vital information throughout the War of 1812.
Toledo Zoo & Aquarium – This event, situated 20 minutes from the resort, began in 1900 using the contribution of one woodchuck. It comprises 12 displays constructed to resemble natural surroundings and an aquarium using 3,000 sea monsters. The zoo’s feeding deck keeps you at eye level with giraffes and lets you hand-feed them.
